Safety Files

In terms of the Construction Regulations 2014, which now form part of the Occupational Health and Safety Act No. 85 of 1993, accountability for the safety of persons employed on the project will be delegated to the following persons:

The CEO of the main contractor will appoint a Site Construction Manager and a full-time / part-time Safety Officer, in writing, to ensure that all Construction Regulation requirements are in place and complied with by the entire workforce.

Each construction site should have a SAFETY, HEALTH & ENVIRONMENTAL plan – SHE in short – signed by the site construction manager and the client. Sub-contractor agreements, appointments and requirements are set by the main contractor.

However, all subcontractors have their own health and safety file which includes all the legal documentation as required by the OHS ACT & Regulations.
